While lounging about with his friends and his brother, Balarama informed everyone that he wanted to be strong enough to kill the town's bull, Hastin, with a single punch. Hastin was a ferocious and huge bull that everyone feared, so all of Balarama's friends discouraged him. Then, Krishna told Balarama that killing the bull would not be a good thing, and that in one months time, Krishna would instead ride the furiocious bull safely. Of course no one believed him, but Krishna spent every night playing soothing music for the bull and throwing it sweet foods. before the end of the month, Hastin was so calm around Krishna that Krishna could feed him from hand. On the night of the full moon, while all the village was gathered, Krishna hopped on the bull's back and road him. The bull did not buck Krishna off, and eventually even calmed down as Krishna played his flute on the bull's back.

Nate, it was interesting to read your reading notes on Epified's Krishna, as I chose the Jataka tales as my reading assignment instead. Your analysis helped some of the other stories I have seen people write make more sense with the new knowledge, as well as show me the depth of narrative that I missed. I might have to choose this as my reading for next week.
